St. George Island fishing - Feb/March
So, what is the fishing like around Feb/March in and around St. George Island?
Am thinking about take a trip and either finding a place to stay for as cheap as I can, or trying to do a little camping in St. George State park. I usually only fish during the summer so not sure about the feb/march time of year fishing.
No boat, so my fishing is just shore, beach, bridge or wading.
Any ideas, suggestions??

I fish the Apalachicola Bay area a lot all through the year but during the months you mention I am not usually found around St George Island. Since you are land-bound I might suggest fishing from the old bridge spans parallel to the new bridge to St. George Island. Get some Gulp lures, live or dead shrimp, and try cut bait. You WILL catch something.

Thanks Old Dog.
I may need to correct my original post because now it seems that I may be able to get a house that has a dock right on the Carrebelle river just north of the bridge.
Any idea what would be lerking in the river that time of year? Any trout, reds, flounder in the river that time of year?

I don't know beans about Carrabelle, but there are plenty of folks on here that do and I bet they'll soon post some good advice for you. Good luck!

Hit up the SGI bridge for sure. Fished over there last weekend and we must've caught a cooler full of whiting that were all about 2 lbs; some trout here and there. A bridge regular was telling me that flounder, black drum, redfish and trout can all be caught this time of year. When I was leaving a guy fishing close to shore hooked up with something massive that made his Ugly Stick double over. It eventually popped the line and cursing ensued, but whatever it was, it was pretty big. Good luck

Lot of sheepshead this time of year around the bridge and in the cut. Live shrimp rigged light was working over the weekend we had a good mess of them fishing the beginning of the incoming tide.
