New Years Day
Stayed at Melbourne Beach for New Years. Hit the surf at 7am with hopes of catching a mess of fish. High tide was 10:05 so the last of the incoming tide to fish. Must have caught 20+ Whiting with only 6 to keep. Also caught 2 Sheepshead 1 keeper 16" and girlfriend got 1 10 1/2"
(too short) released. Got 1 10 1/2" Pompano too short as well
.We fished until 1:30. Total tally 6 Whiting,1 Sheepshead and a beautiful News Years Day at the beach with my girl. Going to Playalinda on Sunday.Tight lines.

Good job fishboy. What lot were you at? What bait were you using?

Peeled shrimp was the bait of choice. The live shrimp peeled caught the whiting and i noticed I caught a lot more blues on frozen peeled shrimp. The bigger whiting came on the rigs with no beads, and the beads also seemed to attract the blues. Fished on lot #3 And I heard the fishing was good on lOt #1-5 but at lot 9 a guy said he only caught blues and jacks the whole day. Good luck and tight lines!
