Help - Mother wants a point and shoot for Christmas

My Mother has a point and shoot Minolta from 2001 with a one inch LCD display. Time has come for her to upgrade, and I do not know anything about the new point and shoots.

It hurts me to type this, but her most important requirement is a large LCD display, as she does not know how/ want to / desire / or care to print images or download them onto a computer. (every photo she has ever taken is on the Minolta SD card, serious).

Her second most important criteria is simplicity... (she can't or won't change any settings on anything ever).

Finally, she only wants a camera from Costco or Sam's Club (again, serious).

    So what should I buy???????

    1 - Large LCD
    2 - Simple / Auto
    3 - Available at Sam's Club / Costco?

    Any guidance is appreciated.

PS: For myself, I am going to pull the trigger on a D600 and Tokina 12-24 this week (the lens is for my D7000).

There are many, many P&S cameras with the now standard 3-inch screen. Here is one with a 3.5-inch screen. The reviews aren't great but it looks like all the complaints are with the Android firmware WiFi interface which will be a non-issue if she isn't posting to Facebook, etc.

Looks like Costco has several 3-inch screen cameras I would pick before this one but.....large screen......seemed to be such a strong requirement......as did Costco.

Costco does throw in a second year of warranty and its prices can be pretty good. You didn't mention price, but Costco does have a numerous of Canon, Nikon and Sony models on sale whose specs and performance will more than meet your mother's requirements.

I recommend buying a model that has a wide angle zoom, rechargeable lithium-ion battery (not AAs, etc.). The Canon G series and Elfs are great.

Ended up getting a Nikon Coolpix 6300 last night at Costco. I think it will suit its purpose fine.

It was right next to the D600 kits on sale $900 off regular price (almost did it).
