I recently got a day to myself between the cruddy weather and running trips and I was able to throw out the pink barbie rod. Knowing I was in an area holding some giant trout, this would be the perfect opportunity to showcase you don't need to spend $500 on a rod and reel to catch the big ones. I will admit that I did cheat a little bit and spooled up 8lb braid with a 15lb flourocarbon leader rigged with a 3" gulp shrimp. Here's a couple from that day!
Both of these hefty girls were released to fight another day.
