I had an older neighbor up in Virginia Beach that used to go bid on units with his grown son. This was a number of years before the show came out. Most the stuff he would find was garbage with just enough decent garage sale material to keep his hobby from costing him money. Over the years he did find a few good rings (one nice diamond wedding ring), a mink coat and a few other valuable odds and ends. He also found some human bones in one along with a filled urn in another. Often it was family albums and such that he wished he could some how get back to the owners.
I did get a nice dive mask & fins plus a dart board from him for cheap.
