Thanks for all the advice guys. Based on some of you alls advice, I decided to buy the camera body only and upgrade the glass from what is available in the "kits"... Did a bunch of research on photography forums and what not, and found this lens to have excellent reviews for "general purpose" shooting, and bought it to go with the T4i.

Had it been for me, I would have probably done the "smarter" thing and gone with the T3i, but knowing my wife, I'm sure she wants "newest" one out there.... Plus, I know she will like the touch screen capability that comes with the T4i but not the T3i. I bought them both off of Amazon. Thanks again for the feedback.
