CaptBob, you are wasting your time using logic with these folks. They refuse to recognize truth and logic, hence the accurate term koolade drinkers.

They simply like to feel good as they pontificate about what others should and shouldn't do. It gives them a false sense of superiority.

Seems by volume you impact revenue much more by focusing on the group with the most members.....
It depends on where you cut off the wealthy point at. The top 50% of wage earners paid more taxes than the bottom 50% earned in income. The effective tax rate on the top 10% dropped 4% from 2000 to 2009. The tax rate on the bottom 50% fell 2.8%. It is dumb to say the tax cuts on wealthy had no impact on the debt, but those to the middle class did all the damage. ALL OF THE TAX CUTS CONTRIBUTED TO A DEGREE! The middle class by volume of people might have had a larger impact. but a 4% cut cut of the top 10% cost right at $130 billion in revenue for 2009.

True, but as the saying goes you can't get blood from a turnip.

I don't know if you are top 2% or not. I do know I once was and I'd be happy to pay more in taxes to get back there again. Being in the top 10% is not nearly as much fun, even at this lower rate. It's the net I'm interested in, not the gross.

Then you and the Buffets shoudl have added some cash to that line on the 1040 that asked if you woudl like to contribute to the debt...

Being happy to pay more and forcing people to pay more so it can be wasted in DC is 2 different things...

So tell my when you were in the 2% how much extra did you pay...or did you like nearly every other American make the most of the tax code to your ability to pay the least amount possible.

Here is what people don't understand....THERE IS NO LAW FORCING YOU TO TAKE ANY DEDUCTION OR CREDIT...

You can put the amount you earned on line 7 and carry it down to line 37......and pay the tax shown.....

People are forced to do what the majority wants in this country, every day. We don't always like what the majority wants but they are the majority.

Your argument seems to fly ion the face of a democratic society. The beauty of this country is that if you don't like it you can pack your bags and leave. Just don't look for this country to bail you out if you bailed out on it. I'm sure you could find a better economy to thrive in couldn't you?

So pay up or move out. I'm sure Parkerboy has a nice place in Costa Rica available.
