I'm new to Ft. Myers, and was looking to do some wadefishing for redfish/snook at Lover's Key. I've heard that is a good area somewhat close to where I am. Has anyone fished there that could give me some insight on the area. Thanks guys!

I've heard that the Gulf side of Lover's Key is frequented by shark fishermen, so be careful.
Curious question, What does the above mean "...so be careful." I know some shark fisherman don't have the best reputation. Sometimes that's well deserved. Sometimes it's not deserved. I consider myself a shark fisherman and hate to hear about any shark guys who have a bad reputation - earned or unearned. Are you saying the guys in that Lover's Key area are difficult to fish near? I don't know that area and have no connections with them. Not trying to defend or accuse anyone - Just curious. IMO MOST shark guys are great people, but it only takes a few bad apples to ruin it for everyone.Originally Posted by MUSKEGON MAN

Yes, I was referring to the sharks, not the fishermen. I've not met a fisherman that I didn't like. Opps, there were three, but that's another story......
