Great report and nice catch!
Laying them on an old longboard makes the report just that much better.

John,
Congrats on the tasty Pomps! I know you have been putting in quite a bit of time lately on the sand. Glad it finally paid off!

Great job on the Pompano and Whiting. Now you are hooked on surf fishing
I was thnking the same thing when I read 9oz!!!! What rod do you have that can cast the much weight and how far ????
If a "Blur" passes you on the open water with fishing rods and "highway to Hell" playing.....its just me....
I sling 10oz lead every now and then. You just can't load up the rod.
Once it grabs and holds in place a big pomp will bow the rod over hard then ya just reel in a little extra weight with your prize lol. Surly makes you think you have something a bit bigger than u do though
That's the truth. My arms were tired by the end of the day. I was even able to feel the little micro whiting when they hit. Someone asked what type rod I was using. I just have a couple inexpensive 10' combos from Wal-Mart. One is loaded with 15# and the other has 20#. I plan on upgraded them when the wear out. They are working for me as of now.
I just grilled up the pompano. It was really good. I am going to have to get back out there and try and get a few more!!
