    Whats your point?

If proving me right is your point then I appreciate it.

What part of dropping your core product line and re tooling was confusing?

Clean diesel is not cheap. Most companies will not do it due to EPA regs (thats our government standing in the way due to the oil lobbiest).

Im a big fan of diesel anything. No need for all this high tech hybrid nonsense. If the EPA would back off and make diesels a profitable venture more companies would adopt it.

Even Subaru who has a 2.0 turbo diesel in Europe cant get the thing to pass American specs

So anyway Cycle.... I own a 182000 mile turbo smog machine. Im not trading it in cause to get the same thing its too expensive. Now if Subaru brought their diesel here id consider it. But Mr Obama has to get out of the way for that to happen. So thats right. People like me are polluting more because Obamas policies have made it more attractive to just drive your existing car till the floor boards rot.

Lol! Basically kerosene or maybe its jet fuel?

In all seriousness even though big oil will profit off diesel they will profit less due to filling up half as often. They def do not want that.

The point is the Germans seems to be making it work. The Audi A3, Q7, the Volkwagen Beetle, Jetta, Passat, Toureg(SP)?, MB with the E class, Gl and ML, BMW with 3 series and X5, all those same engines are available in every model in europe. The jaguar engine that did the cross country test in a XK is used in a lot of land rover products. It CAN be done and has been done, we just need to adjust our ideas.

Imagine a Cummins 4bta in a 1500 series truck, imagine a 1.8L volkwagen diesel paired with a SUV Hybrid? The technology is out there and exists. However until we stop looking at 0-60 in under 6 seconds and the longevity associated with diesel we'll never be there . . that and the 6.XL GM diesel largely ruined America on diesels.

SW im not argueing tht diesels are bad..... But fyi all those audis and vws use the same diesel motor. Its why they can make a profit from it. Not to mention the majority are mid priced to luxo models. Again its the only way to be profitable.

My point to not liking hybrids is that we already have high mileage tech. So start making it work for normal consumers. The Volt is a great example of research money wasted and a car the middle class cant afford.

99.9% of my "diesel" use since 2003 (3 vehicles) has been Florida produced biodiesel from waste oils.

I would rather give my money to friends in Florida. Not to mention the CO2 benefits and the like.
