My main gear/ratchet stripped today. opend the reel up and its full of golden colored powder! I cant seem to find the part online as its discontinued. Anyone with any suggestions?

My first suggestion would be to buy a new reel, but if that isn't an option I'm pretty sure (99.9%)there are several stashed away in the back of Harry Goode's in Melbourne (321)723-4751, along with new frames, rotor cups, and everything else you could ever need for a 704/710/712z. Those reels are classics, but they eventually become a liability.
Ringo.. good luck with the new gear... remember, though that you can never replace just the main gear or just the pinion gear.... you'lll need to replace them as a set for decent performance.
