What's going on in Charlotte Harbor?

Sorry to say it has been to many years since I have been out on the water and fishing in Charlotte Harbor. I use to be able to tell you everything and anything, Now that I'm old I think I forgot most of it. LOL

Don't see to much posted here on the Harbor, as it was many years ago on this forum...

Anyone have any info they would like to share. Not looking for spots I have all my old ones, just wondering how the fishing has been in the Harbor in General and so forth alomg with how has the bait fish been.......

With the wind it has been a little rough lately. I fish the harbor almost every Thursday and some Wednesdays. I was at the 75 bridge last Thursday and the small Mangrove snappers and small flounders were biting. Started moving up the river and the reds were hitting a 1/4 ounce gold spoon. I will be out on Thursday and if the wind doesn't kick up I will be out by cape haze reef and pirate harbor. If the wind gets bad I will fish the peace river.

Thanks guys, I live in Emerald Pointe so I keep my boat i the water, I fish a lot at night at the 75 bridge. If they ever get my bottom finished I should be out there. Triumph with the ropelene hull i guess requires certain steps. They had to special order some stuff

Nice to see a topic posted about Charlotte Harbor, we are going down for xmas and new years to our condo & renting a boat in the harbor for a couple days. renting out of gasparilla though, So may or may not fish the outer area of the harbor. Could you get a 22' center console in Bull Bay/or Turtle bay?

Nice to have a common topic "without someone's hook in it"!.....

I fish the harbor almost daily. Has anyone any concerns about the harbor's "disapearing keys"?

The two little keys by the southbound cut off of Alligator Creek have all but disappeared in the last year. Was it the dredging to straighten out the "S" curve to blame? Cormorant Key by Blacks Island is 1/2 the size it was just a few years ago!

    Thoughts?
    A Pursuit 2470, A SeaSquirt 16, A Calm Wife and a Spunky Cairn Terrier. IT'S ALL GOOD!

I have a deep 18 CC and I get in both no problem. Watch the tide and know the where the channel is or go slow. I will be hitting bull bay in the morning. There is always something hitting by the huts.

Trout and flounder fifty yards east of the first stilt house on the right when you are going in. On your way out look straight out when heading out of Bull Bay and you will see a pole marking a sunken tug boat about a mile out looking towards Pine Island. On Wednesday we caught grouper and pompano. I have had some big hook ups here. Not everything that feels like a snag is one. Big Grouper , sharks, cobia and sting rays the size of a volks wagon hood. You will loose some tackle here.
