Only used them once, trolling them in the south fork and brought in a nice 25" fat snook so I can't say they don't work!

I have used the Orignal Rat-L-Traps myself and been very sucessful in saltwater. Redfish love them and if you go dredge some bridges with them you will hook up some big snook. I have to imagine a tarpon woudlnt refuse one either, but never thrown one to them. As a simple idea just about all lures that are used for bass can be somehow used for redfish!

Yeah it's interesting how bass lures can also attract saltwater game-fish species. Like the spinner bait and topwater lures etc.

My son was always after me to use the right baits etc. He would say you can't use your fresh water spinners in Lake Manatee and then use them in Bay. Except for the rusting I have always used what ever was in the tackle box. I catch more fish than he does. JR

In winter, we troll slowly along bridges using 1/2-oz & 3/4-oz Rattletraps with a plastic squid trailing 18" behind. We catch coolers full of big specks, flounder and redfish all winter using this technique. I buy the saltwater rattletraps in gold and chrome and use clear squids with tails dipped in chartreuse Spike-It. A lot of anglers here troll with lead core trolling lines while others use braid.
