Mosquito Lagoon 11-3
Put in at Halover at daylight and headed out to a few spots that always produce. Had a kind of slow morning using topwater, spoons, jerk baits, etc. My girlfriend had me outfished and i was getting a little frustrated. Changed spots and i got on the board, started feeling a little better then it just completely shut down. SHe decided to lay down so i put a spoon on, turned the trolling motor on high and started to explore. The water clarity goes from 6" vis to being perfectly clear as you move around, and i found a really fishy looking area so woke her up and we started fishing again. From 1-4:30 it was non stop action with big trout. Caught 6 over 20" all in the afternoon?? After this I told her I wanted to catch a red, and that was exactly what i did. No tailers, but they were everywhere, just put the trolling motor on slow, cruise till i see one, turn it off and start pitching to them, hooked 4, landed 1, it was a fun afternoon after a slow morning and I usually would have given up but I dont get out there as much as I would like so i did not. I kept one trout and when i cleaned it it had absolutlely nothing in its stomach, guess it was a late bite. I will try to put some pics up once i get them. All fish caught on dark blue and white gulp, or a brown with flourecent green tail doa cal.
Good report. Glad you found a late bite, and clear water.
Sounds like a fun day.
