    Fishing Gear preferences

I will be down to the Cape Coral area the first week of December, and want to try some fishing. I am seriously considering doing a kayak trip with jvanpelt. He will provide gear, or I can bring my own.
If I elect to bring my own, what is the best overall length, and weight rod, as well as line size, and type? I also may fish of the Matlacha bridge a night or two also.
Am I better off with a glass rod, or Graphite?
    Thank you.
    Ken.

    My 2 cents - graphite material / spinning / 7 - 7' 6" rod length / 3000 to 4000 size reel / 10 - 15 lb test braid / 20 - 30 lb Floro leader. Use Jim's stuff and if you like it buy something similar local.

Thanks Tim. I set the trip up today with Jim, and look forward to it. The airline wants so much to ship the rods, I think I will just buy some down there. Thanks for the tips.

have fun! You can never go too wrong with Shimano reels regardless of price point.
