Since my daughter did so well in the first quarter of the school year I decided to surprise her with a late afternoon fishing trip. It started off slow with just one barely legal trout but she was thoroughly entertained with all the manatees hanging around the boat. With the wind and tide battling each other and me not getting the drift I wanted I decided to move us to the north end of Matlacha pass. I set my drift up on the leeward side of a small island and got two snook in consecutive casts (28" and 21", sorry no pictures) on the old reliable gold spoon. 2 minutes later I caught consecutive reds of 21" and 24" and then I put one on the hook for her to fight.
I never catch anything near that island unless she is with me. She's definitely my good luck charm and she's hooked on redfish too. Life is good........
