So when the bite is good it's hard to stay home. Plus it's always fun to put some friends on the hot bite so I had Don and Lee join me today. We finally found a few ladyfish and some decent trout so the bait was in the box by noon and it was off to the islands. A strong high tide along with overcast skys and rain on the way put the reds on the bite even better than yesterday. 21 reds came to the boat today and the best part was half of them were upper slot along with a couple overslot fish. The smallest was 22". Every island was producing reds as long as it had good flow and deep water near by. The reds were so thick that several were caught 50' from the shoreline. Don and Lee had a blast and actually got tired out from reeling in reds. W did take a short thunderstorm break and beached the boat on a covered dock for a few minutes. Redfishing is really on fire and should continue to improve over the next couplr months. We kept 2 reds that were hurt and a couple trout.
A triple
A double
A double in progress
Have you hugged your redfish today?
