Ive been docking ships in the port for 12 years, working in and out of the gate slip there many many times, and i keep a good up to date chart. They definitely push the boundaries on that line further than whats marked legally. I would understand making the zone bigger in case of a higher MARSEC level. I go in there with the Tug all the time waiting on inbound ships, and they never say a word. The first time i got near there on my fishing boat they raise complete heck. There's no arguing with them so i didnt try. Could always contact the Captain of the Port and take it up with him but its probably better to fish somewhere else.

MM.......I'll assume you are referrig to me with your response...
Do you know me?
Have you ever seen me flip off, (throw a gang sign), in that area....or anywhere?......
Just curious cause I don't recall ever having done it even when I knew I was "legal"......
And I didn't say that they shouldn't check...heck I'm happy to say hello....and Dani likes smiling at the heavily armed Marines.....my point was that like any other security check when they look and see that its clearly not a threat then that should be enough......why should it be there than at the Airport?...I take off my belt, I take off my shoes, I take my computer out of the case, I put my phone in the little tray, I walk through the body scan, they verify that I don't have a 1,000 lbs of fertilizer shoved up my keister and say....Pass..have a nice day......they sure don't say.."you look fine to me, now leave the area right now"......
Didn't expect you to agree....but I sure don't understand the anger in your response.....
