I took my good friend and Tennis Pro Bill Chapman out again this last weekend to hunt for his elusive "First Tarpon". We had opportunities before at rolling tarpon but he has not been able to connect until Sunday. Now let me start by saying I have caught many tarpon both here and in the keys and I have caught them up to 150 pounds. This tarpon though was the biggest I have ever seen on hook and line. We had several boats following us around watching this behemoth jump and act crazy while I snapped a few photos and maneuvered the boat to keep Bill in position. We were near the sandbar across from the Vilano ramp at the base of the jetties. I guess you could say between porpoise point and salt run. Anyway, we got this fish boatside within about 45 minutes when she popped the leader which was frayed beyond belief. She swam away strong none the worse for wear and Bill was flat tore up. Here is a video to commemorate the event -->
