Was able to get out two of the last three weekends or red snapper season. We fished 150 to 170 almost due west of Naples. Both trips were the same. Long run, two to three hours of catching BIG fish, and a long run back. The first trip we hit two spots. First one we landed 5 gags and close to a limit of red grouper. 1 20lber and 4 30 to 40 lbs. The reds were all 10 to 20lbs. Second stop and we had a limit of red snapper 14 to 18lbs. Fish were caught on live baits and frozen sardines. The second trip we had a 50lb black, a 35 lb black, 30lb gag, a bunch of red grouper and a limit of ARS all on the first drop. ARS were a little smaller this trip (10 to 14lbs mostly). After 2 hours of loading the boat we cruised around and found a couple more spots for next year. Every spot had big ARS and groupers to go with them. The fishing is insane out there if youre willing to mkae the run. Hopefully they will give us another weekend of open ARS. Anyone know the latest word on that? SOrry for the short report.
