We mostly used 10 wt rods with full sinking and intermediate lines. Switched to 12 wt's after a while to give ourselves a "break". It is a blast on fly.Originally Posted by SevenSals

Not to hammer you with question but I am curious. I imagine you chum them up with cut bait, but we're you also throwing teaser lures, ie. hookless lures to entice the bite. I have read a few posts and it seems like that is the common method. Just wondering if you had the same experience.

It can be done with an 8 wt but it isn't fair to the fish. Its better to beef it up for their sake.
Yes, we threw some chum, but it isn't necessary. Over the years I've found they are pretty easy by simply throwing a sinking line. It's entertaining though to get them frothing at the surface. Chum enhances the fun, but isn't required.
