After a long day on the water yesterday I wasn't too particularly thrilled with the thought of another 8 hour day in the blistering SWFL heat, but I was definitely up for a little early morning trout action down in Estero Bay with longtime fishing buddy Bonitabob. So we headed down and launched around 7am at Weeks Fish Camp hitting the outgoing tide looking for an early top water bite. The fishing started slow as we searched the mangroves for some reds and snook. After a while we switched tactics and switched our target species and the trout bite was ON!!!
After filling up the cooler with dinner we headed in early as the heat started to become unbearable. On our way home we decided to stop an visit the folks at Estero River Outfitters to share fishing stories and stock up on some new lures and check out the new Hobie goodies that they have in stock.
If you're in the area they are right on the Estero River and a part of the Calusa Blueway Paddling Trail.
