Okay, after 3 days of rain and wind, getting bored sitting around the house. Grab my smallest spinner, 1/2 bag of frozen shrimp in freezer and drive two blocks to the end of the road (Cove Road) to a small park to "kill some time" before more rain today. Bait up, small 1oz lead and leader and toss out the bait. After an hour, one or two small bites, decide to try one more cast in front of the mangroves (about 10 feet out). A minute or two later, big bite, set hook, drag starts screaming! After a 3-4 minute fight, fish comes up to shore....A keeper Redfish! No cooler, no ice...not even a plastic bag to put it in. Open the trunk, find a publix cloth shopping bag, load up the fish and drive two blocks home. Honey, come take a picture of my FIRST redfish caught here in Stuart (hence the pic of me and the fish on the patio instead of by the water).
Funny how you can catch the fish when you least expect it, and are the least prepared.
