i walked out side at 6 am it was overcast and i could barely see the moon through the hazy with the weather i thought it was going the be a short day of fishing. but what else did i have to do . i arrived at the back side of Cumberland island at 7 am no birds no pogies no live bait today headed back to the end of the north jetties seen some herring flipping broke out the Sabik rod in a half a hour had 40 frisky herring prowling the live well.
ran out to my secret spot the pipes its i location i talked out of a retiring tug captain down in Guantanamo bay Cuba he was towing a clam shell barge full of concrete culverts when the barge had a mechanical failure and he laid a half mile trail of culverts on the sea floor the best part is is in a area that i have never seen any one else in they have been there for thirty years you will have a better chance of emptying a salad bar at a texas bbq than getting these numbersthe wind and currant was perfect for a drift down the line today. i pined on a frisky herring and my 4 oz egg sinker took him straight to the bottom.
five min later my bait runner was screaming off line i pulled the rod from the port aft holder and engaged the reel i could feel the circle hook hit the corner of the cobias mouth as the 60 lb braid came taunt
twenty min later mr. c was trying to beat the bottom out of my fish box
i spent the next hour and a half boating 4 shorts then i hooked my second keeper i fought him to the boat 4 times before i could get the net under him . with the nice brace of cobia in the fish box i was off to the boat ramp it was a pretty nice day after yea barb kept telling me to lift them higher what you cant see my face all![]()
