Monday - early start. Still dark heading under the bridge. Get out to 90 ft and set up. One diver down within minutes of arrival. We stayed on the boat, and re-organized all the crap from the ride out - then get ready to go over. By that time - Dave was back on board with his catch bag full of fish. He said it was loaded "down their". His bag was full of fish. 1 nice gag, 1 nice red grouper, 3 big mango's, a couple of nice size triggers, 2 slippers, and a very nice cobia on the end of the speargun shaft.
In we go - leaving Dave to pack the catch on ice. We came up, and had one gag, 1 aj, some mango's, triggers, one slipper, and one more cobia. The viz was great, but we had to move - everything was running for it's life, except a couple of aj's that stuck around. Dave metioned alot of genuine reds when he first went down.
We moved about 2 miles, and decided there was no real reason for us to dive anymore because of what we had in the box. So we saved our other tanks for another day - caught our 15 keeper seabass (which took about 25 minutes), and went home early to clean it all up.
Tuesday - late start. Went out for breakfast first, and then headed out. Only 2 of us today. We stayed in close - 40 ft off vero. Top to Bottom viz. We did 2 dives each, and managed one nice gag, some mango's, and triggers. Caught our limit of seabass - 10(we were in federal water). If we would have been in state waters we would have kept 30 of them.
We did see alot of bugs in close on Tuesday. Too bad they are not fair game now.
We accomplished what we set out to do - come home with alot of fish for the 4th of July party
Be safe out their.
