Once again this year we had the privilege to fish the Miami Dolphins Fishing Tourney. FineAwards.com been a sponsor now for over 5 years and this year was by far one of the best. Sponsorship is up as the event had all the bells and whistles. We were fishing this week with the same crew as the Mad Dog the week prior that earned us Top lady angler. Eric from Reel Deal Fishing Charters was running the boat. His GF Lyndsay was going to be the focus as putting her on fish may earn us another spot in the winners stage. Plan was to fish the edge down South near Triumph as the Tuna bite has been hot lately. We secured bait from Moonraker and Ashley, netted a few more at Bug Light and we were off.
Right off the bat before we could even get a kite up we were covered in schoolie Dolphin. We put a few in the box and made a run to get away. Set up and 15 minutes in long kite bait goes off and we are on. Lyndsay brings in a nice blackfin.
Reset and not even 20 minutes later long Kite again, another nice Blackfin in the boat caught by the lady angler:
Things were looking great but mother nature has a way of making herself known. A big storm moved in and we were forced to run and around behind it. That burned over an hour of our time. We missed a couple of sails in between and a few King cutoffs.
Later on the in the day it was the deep baits going off and we put two more nice blackfins in the boat and it was time to head in:
Final tally for the day was 4 Blackfin between 20-28 pounds, a bunch of schoolie Dolphin, missed two sails and I caught a monster African Pompano on the vertical jig
Us at the weigh in:
I also want to thank Les at Contender boats for giving us free dockage and ice and helping us secure a boat for this great tourney.
