    CR Rough Reds 5-19-2012

It has been a while since I posted any reports, so I figured it was time to do so. I will tell you this, “The Weatherman Lies ” calling for 2-3ft seas a good boating day, yeah right. It was more like 5-6ft seas winds blowing 15–18 knots. Bounded and determined we made our way to the 50ft range in search of Red Grouper. Once there we started pulling grouper in the boat left and right, them darn endangered Gags were everywhere and LARGE, hated to have to throw them back, Catching 30”ers weighting at 14lbs will wear you out in a hurry. Bait of the day was BIG SPOTTAILS, but various baits were used with success as well, water temp was 81 degrees on the surface of 50’. Not many pictures were taken do to the rough waters in the am, we ended with one short of our 3 man limit, Enjoy some of the pictures that were taken in the afternoon. Lucky for us by late afternoon the wind laid down making it a decent ride back in.

Welcome back Ted! Nice to see you're still catching fish. Weather reports(especially wind data) have been spotty--sort of like your bait. Those are some nice groupers--those gags are brutes. Good job!!

Nice job on those reef fish folks! It is indeed hard to snap pics while rock'n and roll'n. We've been catching lots of gags as well mixed right in with the reds.

They, the gags, will all be gone by July 1st.

Looks like a great trip and congrats on the reds. The waves do look big.

Nice gags! Can't wait until they recover. Gonna be so big we ain't gonna be able to drag them up.
