I made my first trip to Mosquito Lagoon this morning. Thanks to a few pointers from jumboshrimp I caught one redfish on an EP fly. That was all I caught, but that was more than the other three kayakers I talked to that were fishing live bait. East wind has never been good for me no matter where I am. I did see a couple of guys that wade fished with three small specks on a stringer when I was taking out at 12:30. They hit the water about the same time I did around 7:00.
Way to go man! anytime you can catch a fish on your first trip to a new destination it is a good day
Nice fish. I was out there today as well in a yak (north end of the poll and troll) and saw some fish but couldn't get a bite. I threw everything I had at 'em (artificial and some dead/cut mullet and shrimp).
