Better weather is finally approaching, and the fishing is hot hot hot offshore. Saturday winds and surf were a little choppier than predicted but we got into some nice fish. Winds were great for the kayak and currents did not start ripping until after 1pm. On saturday, hooked, oarknot, and myself ventured out. caught alot of bonita, nice kings, runners, jacks of all sorts and sizes and one tuna. Water was murkier than normal which is not a bad thing, plankton and silt brings bait and bait brings predators. I will also make note that, absolutely zero bait, live or dead, are used on any of our trips, so whatever we catch is on artificials. Here are saturday's notable fish. On sunday, Hooked and I went out to take advantage of the easy conditions. Without much surprise with the huge moon we have had, we found thick muttons out deep staging for spawn. We could get them up but often with only part of the fish, huge kings and the grey suits were thick. but we managed to get some to the boat intact. I lost my 3 confidence lures early almost back to back and then had to make due but still managed some nice fish. Hooked nailed alot of nice fish. Among the fish caught were kings, bonnies, runners, all jacks, tuna, muttons, grouper, to round it out. An easy and productive day, left before the current woke up. I'm just happy for the mutton Miss that awesome meat. Had some as sashimi last night and it was insane!!! get out there. fishing will be awesome until the swells come later in the week. Mutton time!!
The muttons were stayin around 200's and they were thick. We did notice alot of kings stayin ontop of them. Which made it difficult to get them up to the yaks but the muttons were probably just eating the scraps from the kings and sharks.
