Food Stamps and a Fishing License

I was told today that if you have a food stamp card then you don't need a fishing license. Anyone know the truth to this. To think that I got a deal on a $1001 lifetime sportsman license.

I think a license to fish from land/pier is free anyways, so what is the difference really?

I doubt a foodstamp fishing license would cover fishing from a boat.

I don't know if it is free. But I imagine you still need to carry the document (fishing license).

You are a resident who is saltwater fishing from land or a structure fixed to land who has been determined eligible for the food stamp, temporary cash assistance, or Medicaid Program by the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Proof of identification and a benefit issuance or program identification card issued by DCF or the Agency for Health Care Administration must be on your person when fishing.

    3. How much does the license cost?

The license is free. However, anglers who obtain the license over the phone will pay a convenience fee of $3.33 to the vendor who provides the service, and those who obtain the license off the Internet will pay a $2.31 convenience fee.

Nope, need a license to fish from land and I believe there is a specific pier license, unless you are part of an exempt group.
