Mike, A neighbor on our street had moved here a few months ago and is getting into the swing of saltwater fishing. He has spent lots of time here in Florida mostly bass fishing and has cahrtered a few times on the flats. He hooked up with a guide here and also a few neighbors that to him over complicated the flats fishing here and wouldn't really show him the here and why of Homosassa. His friend who rewads our forum talked him intyo approaching me to teach him the ins and outs of Homosassa. Of course i agreed 'cause it's what I truly enjoy doing. Mike joined me at 10:30 this morning and as we made our way down river the skys opened up so we waited it out at Tarpon Key Lodge for a few minutes. By the time we hit the bay the tide just turned to incomming so we drifted over some skinny flats and worked some hard bottom points and caught some really nice over slot and upper slot trout up to 22". We ran into some forum members and exchanged hellos before we moved onto some points and tried for some reds but by the time we did the skys were bright and high and we hooked and lost only one. Finally I made a unscheduled stop to see if I could put Mike on a big fish. ell I was expecdting a nice red but we settled for a 39" snook! That put a big smile on Mike's face and a fine ending to another great day on the bay in the Big Bend.
