Went out Tuesday 17th for a trip offshore looking for keeper red grouper. The weather report said
2 -3 ft seas but some of the swells felt like 8ft. Headed out of Redfish pass to the first spot about 8 miles out. It was too rough to drift or anchor so we trolled plugs and caught a couple of nice gags about 23 to 25 inches. Too bad out of season. Decided to head closer to shore to find calmer seas where we could drop some live pinfish. The fish were'nt biting at spot #2 except a 3 ft shark and a trout. On the way home we decided to drift Redfish pass and the first pinfish down got nailed by a poon. The fight didnt last too long before the hook came out but the poons were there in numbers and feeding in the late afternoon out going tide. Next trip we will have some better gear for tarpon fishing and hopefully some pics.
