Doc and I spent yesterday out in 45 foot of water looking for those keeper reds.
Great day on the water, and as he mentioned in another post, you could see the bottom the water was so clear. The gumbo was gone. Wave action picked up in the afternoon but not as bad as it has been lately.
We caught some really nice gags, lots of big ole grunts, probably close to a hundred grouper total, and kept four reds to eat. There were some big ones that gave us fits...Doc said he is going to bring the heavy arsenal out the next trip. Based on the size, of a few of the gags we did catch, we both felt the ones we couldn't turn were gags.
Doc did have a king spool him and then managed to get another one in after five majors runs. It was 50 inches long and probably weighed maybe 30 pounds. A nice fish. Since it's so hard on the kings we decided to not fish for them anymore as we weren't going to keep another one. If I can remember to get the picture off the camera I'll edit the post by adding the picture. Thanks again Lee...as always it was a blast.
Bill
