Finally got a day off and the weather looked to be decent. So after playing neighborhood school bus, filling the boat, and getting some frozen sardines dad and I broke the inlet at a striking 10. Went right to the sandpile and found only a couple of boats. We did watch one boat score with two nice permit and did see one school of cobes, but they weren't interested in any of our offerings. Note to self, next time bring crabs or shrimp for the permit. So we decided to go to the loran tower and try some bottome fishing. The wind started to kick up and joined forces with the current to move us along at about 3-4 knts. We had constant action with bonitas, lesser amberjacks, and some pogies/porgies (silver snapper). Not a great day, but it was nice to get out with dad, guy is 64 yoa and refuses to slow down, hope I do the same. Anyway good luck this weekend guys and gals, and remember GET SOME SHRIMP.
