Daiwa Saltist 4500 line lay problem

The reel is in great shape and the issue just started a week ago. When I retrieve the line, it lays unevenly favoring the top of the spool. It's almost as if I am lacking the washer beneath the spool but it is still there. Anyone run into this problem? Any way to fix this without taking the reel in for repairs? I was thinking of putting a small stainless washer underneath the white plastic washer to see if that helps.
