shimano compre inshore spinning hookkeeper problems

i purchased 2 compre inshore spinning rods that have the new style hookkeepers installed on the right side of the rod.The new style hooks downward.The problem is sometimes when i'm working a lure the line will get hooked under the hookkeeper.What is the best thing for me to do to solve this?

It sounds like you have a lot of slack when working your lure. I suppose you can try and bend the hook keeper inward towards the blank. This will make it harder for the line to get wrapped on it.
