Wow!! What a day! My #2 Son Pete Jr. came over from J-ville last night aand got in around 10pm. Asked if we could go Cobia fishin this a.m. Got to the ramp at daylight and headed out into the clouds & rough water. By the time we reached the Scallop rack, waves were going over the top of it! Had to tie up right behind it or the waves would have come over the bow! YIKES! What the hell am I doing out here? Tried to catch some bait but it took a while. I finally got pissed and picked up my light trout rod w/ jig & gulp and hooked up on the 2nd cast to something that felt like a catfish till he got under the boat! Turned out to be a 32" at the fork cobia somehow I managed to get in on 8lb test while rockin & rollin!!
Stayed most of the morning after getting some bait out on heavy rods but caught no more cobes! We did stay busy w/ sand & spec. trout, ladyfish, lizardfish, seabass and lots of pins!
Went inshore when we saw the storms comin and fished the mangroves around St. Martin Keys till it started raining! Didn't see or hook any reds but caught quite a few lower slot & sm. trout and ladyfish!! Where the hell did all those reds go to???
Got back to the ramp soaking wet around 12:30pm discusted I only got to fish 1/2 a day w/ my Boy!!! Maybe next time! Will post photos tomorrow, too beat up tonight!!
