So Ivan and Raul head out early in the morning to take advantage of the weather break. So after they picked up bait from Ashley they headed out of the cut in search of some kings. Raul tosses over a live bait and catches a nice fat makarel so they decide to anchor up and toss over livies. But then it happened. Blue fish after blue fish,so after 35 minutes of catching blue fish they head out to look for kings.They hit 120ft and worked there way in. The wind was blowing hard from land straight East. After 45 minutes of not catching anything not even seeing a single bait fish go by their fish finder they decided to go sword fishing. So on the way East they hit the West wall of the stream and it was a bit rough for a while, after that it looked like a swimming pool. So they get to 2000ft and toss over a bonito strip with a squid skirt over it.
So Raul and Ivan start to chat and Raul says to Ivan, the sucky part of swordfishing is when you catch one you gotta go home..So Ivan looks over at Raul and says,well I want to go home already..lol So 40 minutes later they start to reel in the bait a bit when (WHAM) they had a fish on. The fish had been playing deadfish since who knows when..? So while there bringing the fish up the fish starts to climb rapidly..easily the fish climbed over 800ft straight non stop. The guys were starting to think the fish spit the hook or it was on his way up to put on a show. So then all of a sudden it starts to dive again for a bit which was a relief for the guys.. The fish took only about 12 minutes to bring up. So the fish finally rises and the guys realized it was a 200#er a bit small for a daytime sword but heck good table fare anyways..lol Fish weighed in at 220lb# So heres the pics and video Enjoy.
