Decided to brave the weather and hit one of my favorite creeks off of the ICW just south of the 312 bridge in St. Augustine. Took my youngest with me.
We started popping the DOA shrimp with only a few bites from small blues and trouts. The water was falling and started to reveal more of the mud bank.
Switched over to a red jig head with a Gulp 3" penny colored shrimp. Was running 10 lb leader and PowerPro's silky new line.
I would cast the bait to the grass line and bounce the bait until I felt the line get heavy, similar to feeling like the line was stuck.
Once I felt that the line was heavy I set the hook. I learned that flounder like to chomp on the bait and sit still. I lost many a flounder trying to finesse bait off of what I thought was mud or an oyster.
Didn't have much time to fish, my daughter fell asleep on the back of the boat.
Here's a photo of the flounders I caught.
