St. James City/Pine Island or Ft. Myers Beach/Estero Bay?

Good morning! My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to SW FL the end of April through the beginning of May. We are planning to stay in either St. James City and fish Pine Island or in Ft. Myers Beach and fish Estero Bay. Does anyone have any suggestions on the better place to stay/fish during that time? We will be fishing inshore out of a 17' flats skiff. We have been to Matlacha before and want to try something a little different. Thank you in advance.

St. James/PI - and make sure to eat at the waterfront restaurant . . .
    Cheap, fast, reliable - pick two . . .

If your trip is mostly to fish I would agree with St. James City. I have fished Estero for decades

and still love to do so. If you happen to decide on Ft. Myers Beach you may want to

check out the Matanzas Inn. On a canal with dockage. There is a public ramp just across

the pass @ Salty Sams's - there is a fee. Another favorite is Jensen's on Captiva.

You may pay a little more but what a great place. Cottages, dockage, full service marina.
