My cousin unfortunately lost his 2 year old son to a rare form of brain cancer.... He battled it for approx 8 months, but the chemo got the best of him.... So I felt it was my job to get him outdoors to take his mind of things... He arrived in town with his Maverick in tow(Sarasota) from Estero/Fort Myers with his fellow fireman buddy from Fort Lauderdale... Settled in, and off to the fishing we went. First trip I had planned was an evening snook - lighted docks trip. We headed South to Venice, and hit some of the dock lights in the area.... Not great, but we ended up with 10 snook up to 24", and a bunch of smaller trout. Fun stuff, tunes, friends and family!
Thurs AM we woke up after getting 3 hours of sleep and headed to S Tampa Bay area - Fishing around the south shore.... It was a slow day... With final tally being 1 snook, 1 redfish, 1 big trout (21"), and a lot of smaller trout.
Fri AM we headed a little further south... And hit the Little Sarasota Bay area. Fishing was a little better for us this day. We ended up with 11 redfish, 5 snook, and around a dozen trout. Nothing huge, but getting Cuz' mind off reality for a while felt good.
Sat we slept in... Wind was keeping us home, but decided to head out. We hit Tierra Cierra area, and found a cove with cleaner water/protected from wind... Had a solid hour of trout action with fish up to 21". Besides that, it was one smaller snook....
Over all, it was slower than I would like... But I think I did a good job as a boatless anger (wade guy)
Here are a few shots: Enjoy!
