    2-17 Gate Station

Well after taking a few months off trying to get my ACL to heal, I was able to get out this morning and fish the Gate. Not very crowded, I fished south of the walkway, found my runout and set up camp. Final tally for today was 17 whiting, a few over a pound, a few dinks and 10,000 bluefish. One small pomp and a seagull that didnt see my line. I was able to throw both the 525 slider and 525 knobby today. Fished from 0700 til 1pm. A few pics from today.

    Thanks guys,

Lets go Steve, you need to hurry, I will be putting up my whiting/pomp rods for my Pier Kingfish tackle pretty soon, let me know and I can get you out there with me. I have everything you need.

    Arumram,

There was a slight curent to the North as the tide was coming back in. Fished last of the outgoing and first of the incoming. It was tough trying to cast a conventional reel with a wet thumb. Fish 3 and 4oz sputniks on dropper loops, My dropper loop with a pink pill float on the high hook caught most of the fish, but any color beads seem to work. I used purple, yellow, red, pink, and green.

Thanks for the detailed Info. John. I'm yet to do any real whiting catching this year. Appreciate the pointers.

    Red Sled,

I am throwing the Dawai Emcast on the Sealine 20, Tica's on the Penn 525's. All three are 11 ft. The Emcast is matched pretty well with the Sealine. Gets a little heavy after 6 hours of fishing but great sensitivity. The Tica's are perfect for the 525's.
