Penn Slammer III 3500 Tight Drag?

Just picked one of these guys up, new in the box. When I back off of the drag it doesn't get very loose, even with the knob off, it doesn't seem very loose (like other reels I own). I cranked it all the way down and lossed it a few times, in case there was some excess grease in there, no change. Does this have something to do with the sealed drag? Is it normal? Do other sizes have the same thing? Does this go away when used a little? Fishing 15lb braid on it, and I like to fish a very light drag.

    Thanks

It is normal for all sizes. It is a combination of the fully sealed spool, as well as the Dura Drag material which has a much larger diameter than standard drag material. It will loosen up slightly over time but not go free.
