    BBI 6/15 Inside

Went out just before sundown to fish the inside of the inlet. The chocolate milk water inshore has everything looking for clean water which means the inlet is the place to be. Fished with cut mullet on circle hooks and I couldn't keep a chunk in the water for long. The first 2 fish are snook, one slottish and one over slot. Next comes up a decent crevalle. After getting a few baits mauled by sharks, my spinning rod bends in half and starts getting dumped. I tighten the drag...it starts pulling harder...I yell for my buddy to pull the anchor and turn the motor over. After a nervous minute of me palming the already locked down drag we are free and chasing the fish down. I get it within 20 feet of the boat and I can see silver....POON!!!!! It took one look at the boat and then decided to basically run to Boca. Finally get it boat side for a pic and a quick release. This is the first tarpon I've ever caught! What a day!

I anchor just inside it. There are nice shallow areas just north and south of the cut that allow you to cast into deep water without being directly in the channel.
