Fishing Charter Recommendation for Charleston SC
The wife and I are traveling to Charleston in a few weeks for a long weekend and may spend a half day inshore for some reds and flounder. Does anyone have any recommendations for a guide the area? We are not wanting to do bay or offshore (we do that here in Palm Beach). Thank you.
I lived and fished there for 38 years. For what you are looking for the areas just to the north of Charleston, such as Hamlin Sound. Copahee Sound, Sewee Bay, and Bulls Bay will be best. All are full of winding channels thru a maze of Oysters. The majority of the guides that work those areas are all well known to the guys at Haddrells Point Bait & Tackle in Mt Pleasant. (Just across the Cooper River from Charleston). Just give them a call and they'll give you good honest info on contacts. Their phone number is on their website at www.haddrellspoint.com/
Personally, I'd recommend Capt Champ Smith or Capt J.R. Waites.

I recommend Knot @ Work Fishing Charters great for inshore/back country as well as near shore.
I had a good day with Capt Mark Phelps, Shore Thang Charters.
Look for Capt. Stephen Fields, Charleston Fishing Company. GREAT redfish captain.
