    Yankee Capts 3 Day 12/12-14

So here is what I liked last weekend...

    1) I helped a first timer named Gio (Giovanni) turn into a mutton maniac. He started the weekend as a yellow tail snapper snatcher, but with a bit of coaching and a few pieces of good bait, he now knows that next time, he will haul in a mutton.

    2) Adel, proudly holding up the black fin tuna he caught, while trolling a cedar plug behind the boat. Then telling me his reel gears were smoking, from the friction of the fight.

    3) Knowing the mutton bite was poor, but still coming away with four muttons and two nice groupers.

    4) Resisting the urge to use my chicken rig, (yellow tail fishing rig) and joining the rest of the crowd.

*Confession, I used it once, for fifteen minutes, caught one that regurgitated it's freshly chewed bait on me, then put it away...

    5) Saying "In you face Randy and Dominic", when I caught my first mutton, even though they weren't there!

    6) The look on Capt Greg's face when "well behaved" Capt Brizo calmly ran over and sat, tail wagging, waiting for a hungry fisherman to drop a piece of the delicious looking salami, ham and cheese sandwich he was about to chomp on.

    7) Watching the mates, Lyndon and Matt, do the work of three and not complain once.

    8) People telling me they like my stories! Priceless!

    9) Watching a regular patron, Big Steve, wave goodbye to a prized, custom made, Yankee Capts rail pad cuishion, as it floated into the sunset, then catching a monster, 45 pound, king mackerel and winning the biggest fish, pool money.

    10) Letting Adel occupy my prized rear corner rail, fishing position, while I ate supper. Then seeing him, minutes later, grinning from ear to ear, bragging that he lip hooked a king mackerel on a bottom fishing rig, while in my spot. (they usually get away if you don't use wire leader, sharp teeth).

    11) And just for good measure , saving the best for last, here is my favorite reason I went fishing this weekend on the Yankee Captains.

Day two. The wind was cool, but the sun was hot and in our faces as it neared the horizon. Matt, challenging me, said that it would make a good photograph, holding a mutton with the sunset in the background. Game on! All that was missing was the mutton! I fished like a fool, anxiously watching the sun slip below the horizon. Then, just as the photo opportunity was almost gone, the Mutton Gods gave up one for me and I called on Matt to take the picture.

Have a great Christmas and play safe!

We FINALLY figured out how to post pictures!!! Not computer oriented. Now I'll be more motivated to take them.
