Well, MM Steve couldn't come out to play today so I gave my buddy Cambosoup a jingle last night to see if he wanted to spend the day on the Damn Yankee and he was happy to oblige... We headed to the inlet to play the drums!
After looking high and low for some Blue Crabs, we headed out... The weather man's report last night said 10-12 NW winds and sunny. Nice by the standards that Steve and I encountered over the last couple of days!!! Well, the weather man got the sunny part right but it was frigid this morning and the wind was a good 18-20 steady out of the north until about noon.
Water was choppy as could be but we crept out to a spot that looked doable and anchored up.
Lines go out and not ten minutes later Sing is doing the tango in the back of the boat as he wrestles his PB Drum up to the surface.. A guess would be around 35ish pounds... What a nice way to start the day! We send that big fish back down and lines go back out... A half hour goes by and one of his rigs starts doubling over again! This time a nice Bonnet decided to visit for a few pictures before being sent on its way. An hour or so later he's on it again and drags up about a 30 inch ugly that wasn't lucky enough to swim away because he got invited to Sing's house for dinner...
We were nearing time to go when we got boarded by the CG who were complete idiots and dragged us out past the tips of the rocks with their shenanigans.... I'm former law enforcement myself but this was ridiculous. I'll save the rest for another thread and my formal complaint.
Back to the topic at hand, I got a few sniffs on my baits but none that wanted a circle hook piercing... It was an awesome day on the water and great watching some nice ones slime up the bottom of the boat!
Nice fishing with you again Sing and nice Feeeeesh today!![]()
