3/4: 3/5 17 sail bites and 25 mahi's in the box on the troll (pic heavy)
3/4. Today we fished with some guys from North Florida and the goal was MEAT. Well I love killing stuff and the dolphin fishing has been great so it was a no brainer. We started trolling around the 085 line in 145 ft and quickly jumped off a dolphin and caught a 12 pounder. Next we hooked a sail on the right flat next to the ballyhoo dredge and it was game on for about 10 minutes. After releasing the sail the guys told me they had no desire to crank another sail in. Long story short we cranked away the baits or intentionally broke off 10 more sails on our 3/4 day while trying to catch mahi's. We ended up calling it early because we were lacking in luck in the mahi department. We saw a total of 16 sails had 11 bites and we were allowed to catch only the 1st one. We ended up catching 3 out of 6 mahi's and a few bonito.
3/5 Today was a great day of Stuart Fl charter fishing. We started our day trolling on the 110 line in 90ft on an edge and before I got the dredge in the water we had hooked 4 gaffer dolphin on the troll. We ended up catching 3 of them. We picked away at the Mahi's all day and ended the day with over 30 bites and boxing 22 of them from 7-14lbs. We also managed to have 6 sail bites on the troll with our guys hooking and landing their own sails. Each guy that caught a sail caught their first one and all were teaser bites. The cool part was they were all able to see the fish on the dredge and the fish eat the bait thanks to our Maui Jim sponsorship they were all wearing Maui's and got to enjoy the epic dredge bites.
Our best fishing would have been from the 155-195 line anywhere from 88-120ft of water fishing the offshore side of a dirty water edge to a blended blue/green water. There was grass and plenty of bait in this and well plenty of boats too. If you were out there I hope you enjoyed some of this great fishing that was going on.
