It's been a long time since I've been on the forum. Since the forecast was dead calm, I decided to take the kids offshore in search of fish. Went out of Fort Pierce inlet and the seas were dead calm. Heading North, We started spotting large clumps of weed lines in 50'. I put out 4 lines and trolled out to 70' when my daughter hooks up with her first mahi. The fish was a keeper, but the 20lbs of weeds on him make it tough for her to pull in. We finally got him close to the boat when I netted him. The weeds around the fish and the line made it impossible for me to gaff him. Thankfully, i had a net. Here's my daughter with her first Mahi!
