I struggled with one small trout and a catfish... We stayed with plastic all morning since bait was kinda scarce.

Adam was all the talent today...He caught two Reds...on back to back casts!... and also had a trout and pulled the hook on two other trout one of which was a real stud...I know Adam was heartbroken on that one. We did not see much...but we disd see a few stud Snook who were not interested in little chunks of plastic.

Look at all the spots on this guy......

My name is John and I've gone fishing a few time out of my 28' Sea Ray and maybe looking to buy another boat but over the last few trips I've had very little luck. I live in Melbourne if that helps you guys, I'm just interested if there's a certain distance or something in particular to look for. I really want to catch anything if someone could tell me to look for a certain depth or certain miles from shore to look. I know alot of people troll on this coast but I'm not looking for marlin, but maybe chum up some mahi or some bottom fish. My friend from the big bend region knows his area in Crystal River but really can't help me for over here so he told me to create an account and see if there's some helpful people that can point me in the right direction. I've used squid a few times or anything the guy at the bait shop recommends. After my brother died I haven't been deep sea fishing in a long time and the luck just hasn't been with me, I've even paid guides to take me and they couldn't put me on fish? :huh I would prefer a general idea of how far and what fish would be easiest to target. And if there's any public numbers online somewhere for wrecks I can head too would be a great help as well. PM me if you don't want to share on here, thanks guys.

Wife, brother and I planned on a day on the water in Ft. Pierce on Sun the 19th. Unfortunately when we got up at 2:00 A.M. wife was sick and said for us to go alone. Broke the inlet about 6:30. Noaa had the 2-3 ft seas right but their 10-11 seconds turned into 2 secs. Quite windy, just meant we had to take a little longer getting out. in about 150 ft put out 4 lines. 1 naked bally on starboard outrigger, Portside outrigger, red & black daisy chain with Bally rigged on same color bubbler skirt. Port side flat line with pink & white bubbler lure (no Bally), Starboard flatline I can't really remember now. Sorry comes with age! LOL Trolled east to approx 400 ft, turned so for 3-4 miles headed back S.W. Trolled about 3 hrs without even a knockdown! Tried many differant colors and set-ups to no avail. Finally back into approx 200 ft changed naked Bally on Port Side to pink & White Islander, Bally rigged. Got into about 120 ft, already to give up as this was first time brothers been out in a year and a half due to health issues and off goes the Port Side outrigger with Pink & White Islander, Bally rigged. Fish took out almost 400 ft 60lb Braid, there was no turning him. Brother brought in the other 3 lines and we started backing up on him. Several jumps sky high all the way in from over 300 ft. Finally after about 45 mins we get back to him, THAT really got him going!! We eventually got him boat side, didn't want to pull him all the way in and doubt I could of at this point! Got him up enough for a couple quick shots by my brother with his cell phone! As Bruce held in by the bill with boat idling forward for about another 10-15 mins he seemed refreshed, (the Sail, me and brother) and he was released to fight another day, I believe. He finally started kicking hard and when we released him we watched him slowly swim down out of sight. Sure hope he lived, told brother if he had maybe a couple hrs or so before a shark got him he should of been o'k.
As we relieved him we held his tail even with the end of boat and noticed where the bill reached on decals on side of the boat. When we got home i measured the distance, 7 1/2 ft. tail to end of bill. As the lower jaw protrudes a ways with the bill I figure at least 6 1/2 feet tail to end of bottom jaw. Not bad for "an inshore live bait guy". I'm a fat old man so the pic of me with him is as close as I could get to showing something to judge his size by!!

Me and Dad fished the Lagoon today for half of it anyhow. Bait is thick the water was glassy early on and dirty. Started off with the topwaters but no one was interested. Switched up to some jerk baits and a little intrest but not like a i am hungry bite just small taps could of been pinfish I guess. Kept working around the mullet pods then finally whammo a nice trout. Kept at it awhile releasing a couple small trout and a jack then thump a solid bite I put the steel to him and the fight was on but he huggedmbottom hard I said great I think I got a Ray bring it along side the boat and up pops a nice Flounder :cool. Kept working and a casting for awhile with little to show a few wind knots and a knot failure on a nice fish (my famous slip Knot, only happens on a stud fish) and then I make a long cast to a pothole as soon as it lands thud Hookset then screaming drag yea baby! A nice battle ensues after it was over a redfish release 29" After that the wind picked up and threatning showers called for an end. I believe this is some sort of slam.

I wound up with about the same deal as yesterday...4 Reds and a trout. I got a few baits early and fed a big mullet to a smallish Trout....maybe 16 inches that ate a 8 inch mullet.
Next was a bite off by a pretty big bluefish. I switched it up and started throwing plastic. The first two Reds were bottom slotters (19"-20") on the soft plastic. Moved on and switched back to the mullet and I had a big trout on...but lost it half way in..:banghead
I took the couple decent Redfish candies and pulled the one in the picture and another about the same size (24").... The tide switched and started dropping really fast...so fast I had to get out and push a little to get over a few humps. It was getting to be around 10:30 and kinda warm so I just decided to head home.

Left the beacon 42 ramp at about 7:30am... I know I was pretty late, but had a long drive to get there. Conditions were glassy and sunny.

Tried getting back in glory hole for the first time, but came in from the south side of the poll troll zone and couldn't get back there. Water level was really low. Maybe I'll try coming in from the north next time?

Came out and looked around tiger shoals for a while, didn't see much of anything other than mullet, so I decided to head to whale tail around 9:30am. Fished the edges where I've had success in the past with live pins. Caught 2 jacks, 1 whiting, 1 15" trout, and a 25" blue fish. Crazy combo to say the least.

Slot reds and trout still evade my grasp on a nice day, but I heard others at the ramp saying that they had trouble. Is it mainly because I started so late? The whale tail area seemed really fishy with a lot of nice sized bait fish, but I guess reds and trout are in the channel edges by that time of day? :banghead

I took Sunday and Monday off to go over to SW Fla (Lehigh acres) and watch my oldest granddaughters high school graduation commencement Sunday evening.

I got out early and ran around trying to find bait south of Sebastian inlet...which was pretty barren....got a couple. Ran back towards Sebastian and worked the 'groves but the tide was down and was falling...which is always a struggle for me. I did catch 3 Reds in the 17-19 range on plastic between 7 and 7:45. I kept looking around but there is a lot of dirty water from wind and rain I guess...and that makes sighting up fish hard. At 9 AM I found a big pod of slob snook...but they would have nothing to do with my mullet. The tide seemed like it was still ebbing and I couldn't go some places I had found fish previously. Bumped a couple trout but it was getting late....Ran to a deeper windy point and at 11:25 finally stuck a nice mid 20's Trout on a 8 inch mullet. Decided to run in...but figured to try one more windy point....and got this guy....pinch tail 25"

And yes...the pictures still stink....in this one you can see me taking the picture...:rotflmao
